Roof cleaningThe black streaks on your homes roof are not just dirt from the wind, but actually algae growth- gloeocapsa magma. Common name "blue-green algae", the color of the black and brown streaks can be deceiving. This color is actually from layers of the algae that releases a pigment, which block the sun's UV rays that would otherwise kill this ugly looking cyanobacteria.
Many roofing companies have changed their asphalt shingle "recipe" to now include limestone dust as part of the composition. The algae feeds on this limestone over time, causing your shingles to weaken and lose their durability, which is needed in Alabama storms. In addition, the algae can combine with other organisms and introduce lichen, moss, and other growth to your roof. You may not need a new roof now, but you sure will then. At Seasonal Protections, we know how important it is to treat your roof with the care and sensitivity it needs to protect it from any further damages. Do NOT ever let anyone use pressure settings on your roof. We use a special chemical treatment to rid of those pesky algae spores and have your roof safe and looking like new again. Protect your roof and give it a new polish. |
